Sopore, Aug 31 (KNO): The Girls’ Super Cup Inter-School Cricket Tournament, organised by the Private School Association Sopore in collaboration with Sopore Police, commenced on Monday with the theme “Women Empowerment.”
According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) SSP Sopore Iftkhar Talib was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony and encouraged young girls to actively participate in sports.
Addressing participants, SSP Talib stressed the need to provide equal opportunities to girls to help them nurture their talent, build confidence and pursue their sporting ambitions.
Organizers said that teams from eight schools are participating in the competition. “The event aims to provide young girls with a competitive platform to showcase their cricketing skills. The tournament also seeks to promote discipline, teamwork and confidence among students while carrying the broader message of women’s empowerment through sports,” they said.
Pertinently, the inaugural match was played between Gulzar Memorial School and Rahmat Aalam School, marking the beginning of the tournament—(KNO)
